Basic information
The testing of mathematical and reading literacy was carried out on a representative sample of schools (cca 100 primary schools and cca 4 000 pupils) on 28th April 2011. Pupils wrote tests focused on:
- mathematical literacy
- reading literacy
The aim of the testing of mathematical literacy was to detect pupils´ ability to solve verbally formulated mathematical tasks and problems based on the context of real life. Pupils were asked to analyze a short text, picture, table (chart) or graph.
The aim of the testing of reading literacy was to detect the pupils´ skills related to reading comprehension – searching and finding information in the text, interpretation of the text, thinking, reasoning and evaluation.
